Stewart Mclean
When LA CAGE AUX FOLLES was first performed in Scotland in 1992/93, it proved an immediate and enormous success. So much so that professional work followed and Stewart decided to take the plunge and pursue a career in the theatre - and so became one of the oldest new boys in the business! Theatre work has been varied throughout the UK and in Scotland has included ROMEO AND JULIET, BROADWAY BOUND, THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE, WHILE THE SUN SHINES, WORZEL GUMMIDGE (Byre Theatre, St. Andrews), CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF (Dundee Rep), IT WISNAE ME (Wildcat), AS YOU LIKE IT, MY FAIR LADY and MISTRESS OF THE INN (Perth Theatre). Pantomimes have included DICK WHITTINGTON with Jimmy Logan (Kirkcaldy), PETER PAN with Russ Abbott (Nottingham and Plymouth), ALADDIN with Gerald Kelly and Allan Stewart (Edinburgh) and most recently in Edinburgh again with CINDERELLA with Dorothy Paul, Allan Stewart and Andy Gray. In 1996, Stewart toured the UK for nine months in a revival of HIGH SOCIETY with Jackie Trent, Roland Curram and Tracey Childs and in 1998 another UK tour, this time in SEE HOW THEY RUN with Su Pollard, Britt Ekland, Victor Spinetti and Jeffrey Holland. He has also company managed THE GOODBYE GIRL on tour with Gary Wilmot and Marti Webb and SINGULAR WOMEN on tour with Lesley Joseph. His TV credits include TAGGART, HIGH ROAD, DR FINLAY, ANNIE'S BAR, MAC, ROUGHNECKS, LIFE OF JOLLY, F.O.T. and RAB C. NESBITT. Stewart last played Albin in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES in 1995 in Glasgow and Edinburgh and he is delighted to have been invited by the Apollo Players to join them in this warm, funny and spectacular production.
