Robert Fyfe

Robert joined the Apollo Players in 1975, and made his debut in our Spring 1976 production of South Pacific at the Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow. Previous roles include Francis Fryer in Calamity Jane, Jerry/Daphne in Sugar, Madame Lucy in Irene, Master of Ceremonies in Chicago, Jeff Douglas in Brigadoon, Lord Brockhurst in The Boy Friend, Ali Hakim in Oklahoma!, Hines in The Pajama Game, Mr Brownlow and Mr Sowerberry in Oliver!, The Kralahome in The King and I, Mayor in Chess, Luther Billis in South Pacific, Starkeeper in Carousel, Doc in West Side Story, Bert Healy in Annie, MacMillan in Big ? The Musical, and the leading role of Fagin in the Apollo Players? highly successful production of Oliver!, a role which he was delighted to repeat for the fifth consecutive season earlier this year.

Other musical theatre roles include Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Benny in The Desert Song, Mr Murdoch in Brigadoon and Captain Andy in Show Boat. Robert?s pantomime experience has included playing comedy roles and appearing as Dame in numerous productions with Glasgow Airport Drama Club, for whom he has latterly directed.

Film and television work includes appearances on Taggart, Dr Finlay, Ruffian Hearts and Salt On Our Skin, starring Greta Scacchi. Concert work includes singing with and directing the Be Our Guest entertainment group in various venues across Scotland. In 2002, Robert featured as a solo artist in our centenary tribute to Richard Rodgers - The Sound of His Music, at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and in May took part in Scotland - Reaching Out to Africa Concert at the SECC Armadillo.
