Margot Traynor
Margot made her debut with the Apollo Players playing the leading role of Ensign Nellie Forbush in our 1988 production of SOUTH PACIFIC. This was quickly followed by her much-praised performance in the title role of IRENE. Her portrayal of Roxie Hart in CHICAGO won her the Best Actress Award at the 1989 Northern Ireland Festival of Light Opera. Margot's talents as an artistic designer enabled her to make a superb job of the Chicago set, which she designed. In 1989, Margot was the Stage Director for SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS and was presented with the President's Cup for services to the club. Since then, Margot has played the roles of Meg Brockie in BRIGADOON and Liz Imbrie in HIGH SOCIETY. Margot has also performed with other Glasgow societies and appearances include the title role in IRENE, Lulume in KISMET and Agnes Gooch in MAME. After a break of a few years, Margot returned to the club in 1998 as producer of BARNUM and stayed with us to produce FAME (both our 1998 and 1999 productions), our world premiere of BIG - THE MUSICAL and our smash-hit version of Jerry Herman's LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. In 2000, Margot returned to the stage as Mabel Normand in our production of MACK AND MABEL and she is delighted to be playing the role of Dolly Levi in this production of HELLO, DOLLY!
